LEXINGTON: THE SHOT HEARD ‘ROUND THE WORLD
We’re meeting American history right where it started. That’s right. Lexington. We’ll be there on the Battle Green, where the opening shot was heard ‘round the world and the American Revolutionary War started. We’ll visit the Hancock-Clarke House, where John Hancock and Samuel Adams woke to Paul Revere’s warning in the early hours of April 19, 1775. We’ll tour the Buckman Tavern, the local hangout that became militia headquarters, and we’ll stop at the Munroe Tavern, which the British occupied, turned into a field hospital and “consumed liberal quantities of food and drink” for a brief time after the historic battle. Years later, after things had calmed down considerably, George Washington dined here. You’ll dine on your own in downtown Lexington. Then, we’ll pop into the Museum of Our National Heritage for another look back at American history before heading home.
Cost: $75 per person (lunch not included)
