SUMMARY:Bus Trip: Christmas at the Newport Mansions: SOLD OUT!!
DESCRIPTION:Join us as we take a trip on December 7th to the Newport Mansions to see the Elms\, Marble House and the Breakers decorated for Christmastime! \nThe glitter of gold and the sparkle of silver will dazzle you as you tour three magnificent mansions decked out in Yuletide finery. Music\, tours\, and spectacular decorations highlight the celebration of Christmas at the Newport Mansions. \nThe Breakers\, The Elms and Marble House–three National Historic Landmarks and icons of the Gilded Age in America–are filled with thousands of poinsettias\, fresh flowers\, evergreens and wreaths.  A total of 28 decorated Christmas trees reflecting individual room decor anchor many of the magnificent spaces.  Dining tables set with period silver and china complete the elegant setting. Windows of each mansion are lit with individual white candles\, in keeping with the colonial tradition. \nAdditional highlights: \nThe Breakers Great Hall will feature the iconic 15 foot tall poinsettia tree.  Model trains\, recalling the Vanderbilt family’s New York Central Railroad\, will be on display in the second floor loggia around three decorated trees. from the Little Rhody Division of the National Model Railroad Association. \nAt The Elms\, the ballroom will be transformed into a Gilded Age streetscape\, complete with sleighs\, a topiary horse\, trees and mannequins dressed in period costumes. \nFireplace mantels on the second floor of Marble House will be decorated by regional garden clubs in a friendly competition. \n  \nDetails: \nBus will leave Falmouth at 9:00 am. \n11:15 am: Elms tour \n12:30 pm: Marble House tour \n1:45-2:45 pm: Lunch on your own \n3:15 pm: Breakers tour \n4:30: Return to Falmouth \n \n \n \n\n
