Later\, a divorce sent him south to Charleston\, SC\, without a plan. While struggling to put his life back together\, he found his path as an educator\, school counselor\, basketball coach and advocate for equality. He also helped the students he coached find meaning in life and change for the better. While he has befriended some of the greatest athletes in history\, the students and parents he met in the public school system  have been the celebrities in his life.
