Finding Vinland: Exploring the Possibility of Vikings on Cape Cod

September 4th from 6 – 7:30 p.m. at the Falmouth Community Veteran Center

Finding Vinland: Exploring the Possibility of Vikings on Cape Cod – A presentation and discussion of the stories told in the medieval Icelandic texts, the Vinland Sagas, and how they may describe several voyages from Greenland to Cape Cod early in the 11th century.

Join us to help connect the dots in this fascinating Norse travelogue.

Free and open to the public.

Talk will be held at the Falmouth Community Veterans Center, 300 Dillingham Avenue, Falmouth.

Mitch Utterback, U.S. Army (Retired):

Mitch is a retired U.S. Army Special Forces soldier and freelance investigative journalist. His research into the possibility of Norse Greenlanders arriving on Cape Cod around the year A.D. 1003 has been influenced by his military background and service as a crewmember on reproduction Viking ships in Scandinavia. His presentation will include details in the Sagas that could be a match for locations around Cape Cod and Nantucket Sound, as well as discoveries during his expedition here last year.
Neil Good is a long time Cape Cod resident and has been relentlessly researching the Vinland theory for the past 45 years.

Sponsored by: Cape Cod Oyster Co.
