How the St. Barnabas Episcopal Church was Built in 1809

Mark your calendars for Monday, August 24, 2026, at 2 p.m., in the Cultural Center at the Museums on the Green – Falmouth Historical Society, for a most interesting lecture by Richie and Mary Ellen Williams. Former residents of West Falmouth, during the tenure of the late Rev. Robert B. Appleyard, Jr., they always wondered about how such a beautiful, steepled stone church, with many equally beautiful stained-glass windows could have been designed, built, and consecrated in 1890! Three important factors rank highly in the history of the church: The first and foremost, was the genius of the British-American architect, Henry Vaughan; the second was the completion of the extension of the Old Colony Railroad from Sagamore to Woods Hole; and the third was the ample funding provided by the Beebe Family.
Come and hear about the details of how all three factors intertwined to be able to build St. Barnabas Episcopal Church in Falmouth.
