Scrapbooks Are Back: Celebrating the Legacy of Salt Pond

Scrapbooks Are Back: Celebrating the Legacy of Salt Pond
Tuesday, September 15 | 3:30 p.m.
Bourne Farm – 6 N Falmouth Hwy, North Falmouth, MA 02556
Join the Falmouth Historical Society and Salt Pond Areas Bird Sanctuaries for a special members’ reception celebrating the return of two remarkable historic scrapbooks following their conservation. Created by Ermine and Hollis Lovell, these volumes preserve an important record of the early preservation work and natural history of the Salt Pond area, documenting a legacy that continues through the stewardship of Salt Pond Areas Bird Sanctuaries today. The two important scrapbooks were recently conserved by Green Dragon Bindery in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, and are now safely housed on loan in the collections of the Falmouth Historical Society. This special event celebrates the successful conservation of these volumes and the ongoing partnership between the Historical Society and Salt Pond Areas Bird Sanctuaries in preserving and sharing this important local history.
Guests will have the opportunity to view the newly conserved scrapbooks, enjoy historic Bourne Farm, and hear brief remarks about the project and collaboration that made their preservation possible. Light refreshments and bubbly will be served, including a celebratory toast to the successful conservation and return of these important volumes.
Tickets: Advance registration required and attendance limited to 50 guests. Registration is reserved to current members of the Falmouth Historical Society – Museums on the Green and Members of the Salt Pond Areas Bird Sanctuaries only.
