Special event at Museums on the Green, Falmouth, MA
A fun fundraiser!
An immersion into Falmouth’s whaling history. Learn more about the men – and women and children – from Falmouth who went whaling around the world. Participate in as many of the offerings as you want.
2:30 – 3:30 PM – a short walk to Locust St. to see some captains’ homes and hear their stories, with John Bissonnette, a descendant of one of the whaling Lawrence brothers, as your guide. (very limited space)
4:00 PM – talk by Carolyn Partan, a researcher on Falmouth whaling, on the women and children who went on voyages.
5:00 – 6:00 PM – Reception with drinks and appetizers
Anytime between 2:30 and 6 PM: View the exhibition “Better Together: Falmouth Families at Sea 1852 – 1886” on Falmouth’s whaling families.
