The Museums on the Green’s 2018 lecture series begins on February 20 and February 22, when we welcome Richard Thomas to discuss “Why Bob Dylan Matters” and Robertson Dinsmore discussing “Lightships of Cape Cod”. Both of these begin at 2 pm. Click on our Calendar page to find out all of our programs.

Our 2018 Heritage Award Dinner is April 25, 2018, and we will be focused on education. Our honorees are Falmouth Volunteers in Public Schools (VIPS) and David Willard, retiring chairperson of the Cape Cod Five Foundation. Tickets are available for this event, to be held at the Coonamessett Inn in Falmouth.

Christmas Traditions House Tours

Our Christmas Traditions house tours, honoring the World War One era, take place in our 1790 Wicks House on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 2-3, from 11 am to 4 pm, on Friday Dec. 8 from 4 to 7 pm, and on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 9 and 10, from 11 am to 4 pm. “Victoria Yule” will be here at 2 pm on December 9th to discuss Christmas traditions. Join us, as it is all free and open to all!

Thanks for a Great Year!

The Museums on the Green’s 2017 visitation season has ended, but we are still hard at work! The 1730 Conant House is where our offices are located, our research library is found and where the exhibition “Falmouth: Changing with the Times” is located. You can visit the Conant House on Tuesday through Friday, 10 am to 3 pm. And, our Cultural Center will be hosting programs all winter long. Just go to our Calendar page to see what is coming up next!  Thanks for your ongoing patronage and support.  The 1790 Dr. Francis Wicks House will be reopening for public visitation in June 2018.

The Museums on the Green’s Christmas Traditions holiday tours of the 1790 Dr. Francis Wicks House will be held from December 2 to December 10, 2017. The 1730 Conant House will be open for self-guided tours Tuesday through Friday, 11 am to 2 pm. The Research Library is open Tuesdays and Thursdays 10 am to 2 pm or by appointment.

For one night only on October 28, spirits from Falmouth’s past come alive during this spine-tingling tour of the Museum campus. Produced by Peter Cook and Lisa Rudy of Not My Monkeys Productions, and featuring an all-ages cast from the local theater community. Historical Halloween fun for the whole family!

August 3, 6:00 pm: “Patriots Day” movie with author Casey Sherman

RECOVERING CHAMPIONS TO HOST SPECIAL SCREENING OF PATRIOTS DAY WITH NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLING AUTHOR CASEY SHERMAN   SPECIAL SCREENING PLANNED FOR FALMOUTH MUSEUMS ON THE GREEN

 

Recovering Champions, a substance abuse treatment center with locations in Falmouth and Sandwich, will host a special screening and discussion of the acclaimed film “Patriots Day” with celebrated author Casey Sherman on Thursday, August 3 2017 at beginning at 6 p.m. at the Falmouth Museums on the Green.

“Patriots Day” starring Mark Wahlberg and Kevin Bacon, is based on Sherman’s bestselling book “Boston Strong” (with Dave Wedge) and recounts both the terrifying and inspirational moments and days following the Boston Marathon Bombings in 2013.

 

“Patriots Day” was named one of the year’s best films by the National Board of Review. Boston Strong has been honored by the National Crime Museum as the definitive book on the marathon bombings. Sherman will introduce the film and participate in a Q&A session following the screening.

 

“We are very excited to present this important film here on Cape Cod,” said Ken Weber, CEO, Recovering Champions. “The marathon survivors continue to inspire us and show us that like people battling addiction, recovery is a journey, a marathon.”

 

“Addiction impacts all of us,” said author Casey Sherman. “Recovering Champions does amazing work giving people the treatment and long term tools needed to lead healthy and productive lives. I’m proud to support this worthy organization.”

 

Casey Sherman is international bestselling author of ten books including “The Finest Hours”, which was also adapted into a feature film for Disney starring Chris Pine and Casey Affleck.

 

Doors open at 6 pm. Screening will begin at 6:30 pm

Wednesday, July 19, 7 pm: An Evening with Sergei Khrushchev–Simon Center for the Arts, Falmouth Academy

Sergei KhrushchevOn Wednesday, July 19 at 7 pm, the Museums on the Green welcomes Sergei Khrushchev to Falmouth. The son of former Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev, Sergei resides in the United States where he is a Senior Fellow at the Watson Institute for International Studies at Brown University. This appearance will be a part of the continuing commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the birth of President John F. Kennedy.

Dr. Khrushchev will be discussing how his father and President Kennedy worked together to prevent nuclear war during the Cuban Missile Crisis, 1962. Additionally, Dr. Khrushchev can discuss how the United States and Russia are co-existing in 2017.

The discussion will be led by Mindy Todd, the host and producer of “The Point” on WCAI. This event will be held at Falmouth MindyToddAcademy. There will also be a special VIP event held in advance of the talk. Admissions are limited for the VIP event.
