INDEPENDENCE DAY AT THE MUSEUMS: CELEBRATING AMERICA’S 245TH BIRTHDAY
Mary Fran Buckley will introduce this year’s Independence Day Program which focuses on the 13 original colonies severing ties with Great Britain in 1776. Danielle Velesig and Rocco Maffei will read excerpts from the letters of Massachusetts’ own Abigail and John Adams expressing their desires and concerns about achieving liberty and deliberations by the Second Continental Congress which voted for independence on July 2. Stephanie Miele and Troy Clarkson will then read the Declaration of Independence that Congress adopted on July 4, when Americans now celebrate Independence Day. Mr. Clarkson has been one of the declaration readers at the Museums on the Green for several years.
