Wish You Were Here: Postcards from the Past

To interpret the story of Falmouth’s past and bring its history to life in an engaging way, Alice Kociemba has initiated a new project, Wish You Were Here: Postcards from the Past. “These postcards are like time travel,” Kociemba says. “They capture the spirit of the past and bring the people who wrote them alive again, with all their unique personalities, quirks and humor.”
On Wednesday, July 26, from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m., in the Cultural Center of the Museums on the Green, Alice Kociemba will present a curated slideshow of historical postcards and will engage participants with prompts for writing their own postcards. This presentation is free and open to the public, thanks, in part, to a grant from the Falmouth Cultural Council. An exhibition of historical postcards and the new writing and photography it inspired will open at the Museums on the Green in early October.
